Anatomy of a SICK Boss (Control Freak, Intimidator)

Hi, all - Hope everyone's hanging in there at CMOP!

Just touching base and letting you know that although the blog is pretty quiet these days, ALOT is happening behind the scenes!

Some information about Intimidating Bosses and the best ways to handle them.  It's a real eye opener!

First of all, you must realize that deep down, a Bully Boss feels VERY inadequate deep inside.  They have TONS of self-doubt.  They don't like themselves at allSo, in order for them to feel better about themselves, they have to make other people suffer.  The Bully Boss feels best when they make others hurt. The more they see you are in pain, the better and stronger they feel about themselves.

If a Bully Boss tries to intimidate you and they see you are REALLY mad....they feel good about themselves.  In fact, they LOVE it. They THRIVE on it! The angrier you become, the happier and more content they are.  Just like when Jackie was threatened with Suspension for not signing an illegal document the other day,  CMOP Bully Boss was cool, calm and collected when Jackie started to get visibly upset.  THE BULLY BOSS ATE THIS UP. SHE WAS SO IN CONTROL AND SO CALM, because Jackie was visibly falling apart emotionally. That's exactly what gives a Bully Boss their "high" ....is when they know (or think) they've destroyed someone to the core.  If Jackie had simply walked out and said:  "Ok, if you're sure you want to do this, I'm outa here!"...that would have robbed the Bully Boss of the pleasure of the seeing their pain and despair. (Hard to do, I know....but the only way to rob the Bully Boss of their additive fix.)

So...next time you feel like you're being bullied or intimidated by the Bully Boss, react calmly.  It will rob them of the "drug" that they're addicted to....and that is; making other people hurtThis is a form of mental illness and that needs psychological counseling.  Nothing any of us do can change the way a Bully feels about themselves.  They need professional help, and even that may not have any long term affect.

Another thing we are learning there at Teamstaff;   management that is very willing, very capable of lying, distorting the truth, and HAS lied in the past,  you need a (friendly) WITNESS anytime you suspect there might be an issue.  Another member of management won't do, because none of management will listen...they've never listened in the past.  Actually, there doesn't seem to be ANYONE in Teamstaff GS Management that truly has YOUR interests at heart.

Please keep safe everyone!  I will keep you informed as the days go on.  It might be awhile, but as soon as the OSHA report is out, Management is supposed to post it for everyone to see.  But if they don't, I'll make sure everyone knows the results!

  1. When I had any "issues" with Connie, I would just look at her, and do what it was she asked, and not say a word. I could tell by the look on her face that it was confusing for her.

I have said from the start, that Connie has mental issues. She is tall and gangling, and was probably teased as a child, raised by parents that didn't give her the tools to deal with her pain, so now she inflicts it on others to appease her narcissism. She surrounds herself by people that feed her narcissism. She intimidates because she gets away with it. She is a very sad woman. I know she is homophobic and plays favorites. All of the things a boss should not be. How did she ever get that job? Is the whole TeamStaff company like her? Do the other CMOP's have similar kinds of issues? Isn't this place run by our "government"? Where, by the way, are THEY? Certainly not protecting our best interests. What about the VA staff management? Neda? Bill? Steve? Do they not know what goes on? Surely, they do. I'm sure OSHA will be an eye opener when the time comes. I can't wait to hear about that..

Every day, I am very grateful for the fact that I don't have to go to that hell-hole any more.

  3. To SCS - Great post....very insightful and sane post. I think you nailed it on the head when you say she was probably tormented as a child. It doesn't give her the right, however, to stay a child. Others are tormented as children and grow up to be loving, empathetic adults. She IS sick.

As far as how she got hired? Well....psychopaths are excellent at putting on the sweet side when needed. They are very cunning and know when to "turn it on", and they are very comfortable lying. As far as her superiors at Teamstaff...my guess is that Gene is also intimidated by her, or just doesn't CARE what she is doing. He was heard the other night defending her because she had the lowest turnover of all the CMOPS. Wow...what an accomplishment! Doesn't matter how it happens...just get the best "numbers". The others at VA? I'm not sure they have any input in what Teamstaff Management does. They may have their opinion, but they have learned to keep their feelings reined in, I guess. It's gotta be a strange bird that identifies and becomes great friends with a psychopath. In this economy, people are on edge and more likely to just keep their opinions to themselves (for their job security). I understand that completely. Of course when Connie is booted out (and I think we are all praying that), there will be a wave of relief, and everyone will be free to express themselves again.

You are lucky to be out of CMOP. Good luck!

  4. Yeah - Connie actually tried to intimidate me with points when I was called to jury duty, of all things!

She's dumb, but it's specifically in the Employees Handbook that Jury duty is excused. If you don't read your stuff and know anything, she will WALK ALL OVER YOU.

  8. Ya know, we're all probably as sick as she is, sticking around to take all of her shit! Ooops...it just came out. Sorry! I think I'm gonna start to look for another job. Hell....with my medical expenses, I figure I can get a job for $7.50 and still break even. Lotsa companies are hiring for Christmas!
